The driving force behind my yoga instruction is the Sanskrit term Maitri, or "Loving-Kindness". Maitri is the combination of working with the five energies: earth, water, fire, wind, and space. As we move our bodies or sit still for five minutes, we can tap into and harness each energy to enrich our physical, emotional, and spiritual selves.
Over the last several years, I earned a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification as well as a M.A. in Contemplative Education from Naropa University in Boulder, CO. My yoga style is mainly Hatha yoga, with an infusion of Vinyasa flow when appropriate. I have worked primarily with high-school athletes and high-school teachers, striving to balance the stresses of the educational system with the Maitri of yoga and mindfulness practice.
My classes are ideal for people of all ages and physical ability who are new to yoga and would like to treat their bodies with loving-kindness and gentleness. Working with me in this powerful practice, may you be happy, healthy, and at peace.
